help with my Emmer Effing gas tank
my 96 gas tank sprung a small leak.... and when i had it all pulled out and ready to swap.. my fuel pump will not fit into the donor tank....(goes in the tank all the way but the locking ring will not fit.... either the o-ring is not right or there is just something taboo with this...
some advice hints and tips would be very helpful...

Okay... lets start with the basics....
Donor tank and pump assembly are both from either 96 and before or 97 and later??
Both donor tank and original are both 20.5 gal tanks or both 13.5 gal tanks?
You got the rubber end of the pump assembly to sit into the holder in the pan??

yes both are 20.5 tanks..mine is original 96 and the other one i don't know the year for sure but its between 90-94
yes the pump goes in but that locking ring won't push in enough to turn it under the notches
