Mine has done the the same thing since I put my lift on, nothing serious but still does it. I have had 3 different sets of tires on and it still does it. I just wrote it off as a habit of a lifted vehicle. I'm getting ready to change my steering and LCA's and realign it. See if that helps. I know the parts aren't worn my XJ only had 19,000 on it when I lifted it, still only has 45,000.

It's not really a habit of lifted vehicles and it's super annoying cuz it's happening at my ideal speed that i use around town (it's 45 mph everywhere here) so my steering wheel is jerking back and forth most of the drive. I'm gonna find the culprit somehow....

I have never had this problem after my two lifts but my buddy had it with his until he changed the trackber bushings and the upper control arm bushings too. Then it stopped like turning off a switch. Might not be your problem but worth a look.

i know guys that have run the truxas and could not get them balanced right from day one, until they went and had them static balanced or powder balanced. try that.

I couldn't find anyone to static balance the tires but i did the next best thing, dynabeads. It's similar to powder balancing. I've used it for many years and never had a tire shake before. I tried it with these tires and they shake. It's a hit or miss with these tires sometimes and it looks like a miss hit me.

I'm gonna look into replacing the ball joints and maybe drag-link (currie if i the $$ permits, otherwise stock). I already replaced the tie rod and trackbar with new parts so it would be a peace of mind to do it all. I'll see what happens then.

They are brand new rims. Unfortunately they haven't seen mud yet.

Thats wierd. Mine did it a while after i offroad but once the wheels clear out theyre fine. i dont have a steering stabilizer, and ive added 1.5" of spacer in the front, and my wheels arent balanced, yet i dont experience death wobble anymore. Id say pretty much not a whole lot you can do, its just a jeep thing. Unless you get like high steer which is pretty expensive.

"death wobble"...alignment,not with a tape measure, should fix the prob.have the shop check akerman, toe, caster, camber and bump steer if possible to make sure all is o k .youve changed the geometry with a lift but alignment should do the trick.

Agreed, take it to a 4x4 shop though. Prefferably a reputable one thats been around a while.

There isn't any 4x4 shop within 50 miles from here. I've been looking for years. I do have 4x4 part shops close by, such as 4wd hardware. Maybe i should ask them if they know of any shop around.

After doing a bit of reading on wobble experiences and learning more about alignments (other than toe-in), it appears i may have a caster problem. There was an example of a shopping cart with wobbling wheels. It had negative caster. Some of the symptoms they describe for negative caster is what i have too so i am going to see what the caster is set at.

Where's a good place to set my angle finder?

Unless you have adjustable control arms you'll have no way to adjust the caster. Even if there were, it would tell me that the bushings are loose or just plain shot.
