Well from years on the job as 5-ohhh, you can actually pull in the smell of smoke from the car in front of you, if your running fresh air in. On a good day, I could smell if there were drunks in the car ahead of me as well. (Keep your windows rolled up!

I just wish my Air conditioning worked..... I'll take a little smoke smell

AC is a pressurized system. Could the refrigerant be escaping into the cab when switched on? If that's the case then the AC system would be less effective (less cold) more its run.

Is the OP sure it isn't burnt coolant he's smelling? If the heater core is burnt the AC could be circulating the smell around.

Burnt coolant usually smells like syrup. That doesn't sound like what's happening here.

And I suspect with a name like "Cherokeegirl89," OP is probably female.
