Default Help me get rid of the chrome!

Hey guys, I want to get rid of the ugly chrome windshield trim on my 88. Does anyone know if the window gasket material for the newer cherokees will work with it? Chrome junk!

apparently, yes. the newer rubber gasket will work. but not sure if you have to grind off the tabs around the windshield or not.

if not, you can always just remove and paint your trim.

Thanks, not afraid of grinding, but dont want to reuse trim cause some of the little brackets are broke. I had to catch one while driving into the wind on a windy day about a month ago. Can't keep them on the wifes 92 either.

It's fairly common amongst VW people to cover their chrome with Plasti-Dip Spray. You wouldn't have to grind anything or replace anything. Not sure the best way to apply the spray, but it comes out rubbery textured and may be easier.
