Converting for a customer a 2000 XJ from Auto to Manual. We have used a '98 AX15, a 2001 manual trans harness, 2001 manual trans. ECU, 2001 exhaust y-pipe w/ O2 Sensors. It starts and runs fine. However, the gauge cluster stops working about 60 seconds after start up and then gives us a signal, "No Bus" and the check engine light comes on. We fist had a used 2000 ECU and thought we needed to reflash it. Took it to the Dealer and tried to have it reflashed, no go. I wouldn't take the reflash. So we replaced it with a used 2001 ECU, it still does the same thing.

Any ideas on what is going on and how to fix it other than dynamite?

 

I don't think its the trans swap causing it.

Search for "no bus" its a common problem on newer XJs.

 

Also, I moved this to OEM Tech.

 

if you press the cluster will the nobus go away?
