Default help with leaf spring bolt

So heres the deal, I was installing my new leaf springs and when I went to remove the front bolt on the spring the weld nut inside the spring bracket broke. I removed the spring by cutting the bolt with a sawzall but now I am stuck with a weld nut and part of the bolt inside the frame/bracket. Has anyone had this happen and what did you do? I am thinking I will have to break the weld on the bracket and re-weld a new nut on the back and then weld the bracket back on. What a pain in the old rear. Does anyone know of another way to fix this mess? thanks in advance.

I can't get one tonight but probably tomorrow. It is the front mount for the leaf spring. All ment well till the weld nut broke loose.

Yeah man, the reality is that you have got to get in there and reconstruct what's not there anymore. If you haven't gotten to the other one yet throw a torch on it for longer than you could imagine it needing. I spent 8hrs on my rear leafs and torched for who knows how long. I finally got them both to come apart without breaking. Sorry to hear about the troubles; at least I know I'm not the only one...

too bad I didn't find that out the first time...I was to spring 2 when it broke loose. I know how much a torch can help but too late. Anyway I was able to cut a small piece out of the bracket and get the bolt out and will re-weld it when it is all back together. It sure is great to have this site because I did a search(should have done that before I bothered you guys) and found alot of info about this.(made me feel better knowing that it happens alot) Anyone else get that sick feeling when you heard the "snap"? I'll try to post some pics when I am done.
