Cleaning up my '94 Sport the other day, I noticed a broken ground wire and an open connector in the driver footwell that I'm not sure where they go. I looked all around for the other end of the ground wire but didn't see one. Does anyone know where it is supposed to connect? And if someone could tell me what the connector is it'd be appreciated. I didn't see a matching open connector but I didn't dig too deep looking behind panels, either.
Sorry for the blurriness but it was not easy being upside down holding a flashlight in one hand an the phone in the other.
Broken ground wire to body by hood latch. Open connector near hood latch. 2 green wires and one brown.
When you start digging to far under your dash, you will find a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense. I completely removed my dash initially with the thought process of cleaning up and/or replacing all the wiring, and made a startling discovery. Most switches and connections that are available for most trims are already pre-wired. The wiring harness is shared between a wide variety of trim levels, so it's easier to add or not add components that end up in your jeep. The unused ones usually end up at a connection that's dead ended. I cleaned up a ton of these dead end connections when I removed my dash. Bottom line, it would be very difficult to identify a mystery ground wire. If a switch isn't functioning, I'd say maybe check to see if that switch has both a positive and ground wire attached. Otherwise, it's probably just a spurious missed connection.
Considering everything appears to be working, that makes me feel better. I've had the car a little over a year and trying to catch up with all of the past 28 years and 250k miles of wear and tear. Appreciate the respnoses!
