Default Help identify part inside hvac unit

Hey sorry for starting another thread but I need to identify this part ASAP! I believe it ame from inside the hvac unit I was pretty excited to get the heater core out and I think this was somewhere around it, I've been trying to fit it somewhere but I just can't see where it logically fits. Driving me nuts

I just scrolled through the FSM. Pretty sure it's not a blend door (any of them) as there is no pivot/hinge on that part. Now that it's back together, does everything work?

I haven't put it back together yet, It is not the blend door, that is in place and working with the cable. Does the FSM show any part like this in the unit. I can't find a part number anywhere on it either. I really can't see where it logically fits in the HVAC unit. But I swore this was on the inside when I pulled the top off. Hell now I'm wondering if it is even a part for the jeep or it was just on my garage floor or something.

I decided the order an evaporator and reciever/drier too because I didn't know the status of it since it hasn't been warm since I bought the jeep. But it has a new AC compressor so obviously there was a problem somewhere. Plus the black filter mesh on the outlet of the evaporator has been blowing around my jeep since I've got it

The FSM doesn't show any part like that in the heater unit, but it doesn't show every part in detail. Could it be a cover or panel of some sort from the dash that was removed to get at the heater core?

I can imaging how frustrating that is. Does it have any markings at all? A Chrysler logo or anything to indicate it came off of the jeep?

No markngs on it what so ever. Not even a date code or a material code. I am pretty sure it didn't come from inside the jeep because I didn't split the unit apart until it was out of the jeep. all i remember is splitting it apart and then this part pulling the core out and there was this part laying there

Take a look at the trim around the passenger foot-well. It looks like it may belong somewhere around there, with angles of the bends and tab.
I just looked at the All-Data diagrams for heater core and hvac remove/replace, and this piece does not appear to be part of the construction of either.
Wish I could give you something more definitive.

Sorry to hit up this old thread but I have been looking for hours to find where this part goes. I swear it came from the hvac box when I was separating it. Did anyone find out where this part went? I have the same exact mystery part and can not for the life of me figure out where it goes. Please help!!

Sorry, I never found out where the part went. For what it's worth though, my hvac system has been performing excellent without it. All functions work properly. Consider it a weight reduction?

I know its a little late, but that piece sits between the heater core and the blend door hinge point. I suspect it is used as a shim to keep the heater core snug. Had to remove mine when I installed an aftermarket heater core since it was bigger than the stock unit.

Thank you for the response. I can finally sleep at night knowing where this part goes. I was just getting ready to reassemble this hvac unit without this part. Now I realize its not needed but I will try and put it back where it goes and snap a picture and post it to this thread. Hopefully it will prevent some others from pulling their hair out.
