They are all stuck, except this one. The second one from the front. Can I test anything with this?

Yeah you can check any of them. You just have to make sure it is grounded to something.

They are not stuck. You have to be able to take the spark plugs out every so many miles to be replaced. Eventually the spark plug gap will get so big that the motor will run rough and even start stalling at idle like mine did. Don't let any dirt fall in the spark plug holes and don't forget the crush washer that goes on the spark plug.

I attached to torque specs. For the spark plugs for you.

Another thing to test is the crankshaft position sensor. I got the procedures from the fsm for you.

Okay, hang on please. I need to do 2 things to do the spark plug check (post #109): 1- How can I remove the spark plug and connect it to the spark plug wire? 2- where exactly is the a/c compressor?

The ac compressor is what you took pictures of in your first post in this thread!

You're entitled to your opinion but I've done all the work on my jeep thus far and I'm going to give this a try. Not throwing in the towel yet. If I don't get an answer to that question, I will google it. Thanks.

It's not that I don't think you are capable of doing the work. It's just really REALLY complicated to explain on the net. That's why I said have someone show you. Not do it for you.

Remove the spark plug then reattach it to the spark plug wire that you took off of it. Like it normally would be but not threaded in. Be sure to take the injector connector off so the fuel is not getting shot into the cylinder while you're testing.

I admire your determination, but you really should get a basic understanding of your vehicle and its systems. I'm a firm believer in being able to learn all this on your own... I've had to learn everything on my own, but I am constantly reading, watching youtube videos, and picking the brains of my mechanic friends. A solid foundation of the basics is a must. Youtube can be your best friend for this.

There's plenty of youtube videos on how to test spark plugs... I don't know if you'll find one for your particular jeep, but find one for any internal combustion engine, and the technique will be the same. Remove plug, attach plug wire, ground it, crank the engine and look for spark and quality of spark.

Or perhaps those that dont really know could just let her test one thing at a time.

So have you tested the spark yet? And does it have any?

Agreed 100%. She says she wants to learn, I'm trying to give her a good resource to do so without throwing confusion into the mix.

I have managed to work people through repairing many things when they had little working knowledge. You just have to go slow and do things step by step. Not keep throwing what ifs at em.

Default Spark check

First thing is taking a step back and taking it one step at a time theres alot of issues that can be causing this by eliminateing them one by one we will figure it out . Lets first check if there are any codes present ..... http://jeep-xj.info/HowtoECUcodes.htm 12 and 55 would be normal to see dis regard them. Are there others post them.

Next try some starter fluid sprayed into tube to throttle body. Pull tube from air box at red arrow and spray starting fluid into tube 3 or 4 second spray should work. Now lay tube down and try and start what happens ?

Watch this video ,no need to remove the plug . .......DO NOT TOUCH ANY METAL PART OF SCREW DRIVER DURING THIS TEST THE END RESULT WILL STRAIGHTEN YOUR SHORT HAIRS ....... .

Hold metal part of screw driver close to Ac Compressor have some one turn ignition to start Avoid quick constant attemps to start hold key for a period of at least 5 seconds alot of short attempts at starting will result in flooding of engine.
