Wait can someone please tell me the answer to the question:

I really wanted to check my spark plugs because I haven't changed them since I bought my Jeep. Pulling my spark plug wires off was a chore but my son was able to get them off.

Here's the question: can I start the car up with wires off the plugs?

No. The plug wires supply the power to the spark plugs to ignite the fuel to make the engine run.

Ok, thanks. I will put them back on. One of the wires broke when he took it off. We were trying to fix it but it won't fit on the plug. I need to go buy one.

While you already have the wires off and are replacing them, you might as well replace all the plugs as well since you said you haven't while owning the jeep. Its a routine maintenance thing. I always immediately replace spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor when I buy a vehicle.

You'll need a 5/8" deep spark plug socket. An extension with a swivel will make life easier too.

You can do it without a swivel extension, but they come in handy for a lot of things if you feel like picking one up.

Stop .......This is how things get more screw up fix the issue at hand first. Changing plugs at this time just delays getting it running again.......

Ok, the next tool addition you will be learning to use is a cheap one but very valuable. It's called a Spark Plug Gap Tool. These are in stacks around the front counters and look like metal coins with a bunch of decimal numbers on them. They cost less than two bucks so please get one when you buy plugs. We will explain how to use it when you are ready to install the plugs.
