Default HELP: How Do I Lower Oil Pressure

I recently replaced my light only gauge cluster for one with actual gauges (oil pressure sensor replaced for the correct one) and I learned that my 96 XJ's oil pressure is always between 40-60 (mostly at about 60). What can I do to lower it? My rig has about 150k miles and some relatively minor oil leaks already.

1. Should I run additives (I'm concerned about making my leaks worse)?
2. What about running ATF (I just read this on another thread on this forum and am interested, but how long can/should I run the rig with ATF in the crank case?
3. I just bought a valve cover and oil pan gasket. Should I use any cleaners before I pull the cover/pan? I have access to a provessional parts cleaner so I WILL get out any gunk/sludge.
4. With the covers off I will want to clean off the parts I can get to. Can I spray the engine components behind the cover/pan with brake cleaner?
5. What else should I know about or do to help get my oil pressure down to normal?

Thanks,
s

leave it alone, its normal and healthy. keep the oil changed regularly, and come back for a check up twice a year.

Runnng 60psi...youre on the safe-end of the scale.

Only worry when the needle does a nose-dive.

Many run at the lower number and would kill for the numbers you have.
Embrace it. Be proud.

If you run a thinner oil like 10-40, It will come down. thats what I was running, and I was worried, because my pressure was 20-30, but I just changed to a heavier oil, and now I'm about 60 on start, and then 40 most other time.

10w40 is a little heavy, 10w30 is recomended. the difference isn't much anyway. but he's fine regardless.

Mine has always stayed about 40ish, Today was the first time I drove it when it was warm (only had it a month now) It stays around 60 moves around some, and 40 at idle, I was freaking out going home just cause I've had so many problems so far, So around 60 is ok driving?

Hell, I'd love having 60 all the time. That means your bearing clearances are outstanding, wish mine was like that...
