Default Help!-hole in NP242 select-trac leaking fluid.

Quick help please, supposed to leave for a long off-roading trip in the morning.

I came home today and discovered fluid dripping from the Tcase. I found a small hole just forward of the shifter shaft where the fluid came from. My question; does it just need a plug or was there something important in there that needs to be replaced?

I can't post pictures. The hole appears to be just over an inch forward of where the shift shaft enters the case. With it in 2WD the hole is directly above where the shift rod connects to the shift lever on the case. It's a clean hole and looks to be a little under 1/4" diameter.

Just went and looked at my 242. There is a rubber plug in that hole.

Thanks guys. I found a parts diagram, tho blurry, it appears there's suppose to be a detent pin, spring, and plug followed by a seal plug which would be the visible rubber plug Steve posted about. With a mirror I was able to see into the hole and none of those parts are there. It's had a minor leak since before I bought it and I thought it was the shifter shaft leaking but maybe it was this and it finally popped out.

The shifter doesn't feel any different so I'm thinking it doesn't need the detent and is safe to drive once I plug the hole--?
