Default Help have question about front cv shaft.

I bought my 93 jeep cherokee about a month ago and have always had a noise when turning, sounds just like a bad cv shaft in a car but have been doing other work like fixing some leaks and what not to worry. well now everything is done only thing left is the noise.

So i look under the jeep and i see what looks like a u joint on both side and there just bare looking u joints, all my other vehicles have been IFS s10's and blazers so i'm used to seing cv shafts and haven't dealt with straight axles before.

So i decided to look up new ones from autozone and its shows them having rubber boots with grease inside and not the bare joints like i have.

My question is do i have the wrong ones or are the ones on my truck missing both the boots on both sides. There are no remains of any boots at all and no old grease , just making sure i have the right pieces.

I just thought they were supposed to be bare.

The stock D30 front axle had regular U-Joints. No rubber boots and no packed in grease.

ah ok thats makes more since i think the pic they have is of a grand cherokee i'm told they have rubber front boots, i could be wrong.

So i'll head up there today to pick up some u joints then i'm guess thats whats causing it, its not effecting my 4wd really so not bothering me alot but something i want to fix.
