HELP! DOOR WELD!
Hi Everyone!!
Okay, so the Jeep has another repair that has to be done. The hinge on the door has busted, can anyone tell me how I could repair the door without welding? My mechanic has told me that it needed to be welded in order to stay sturdy, while another told me I could go to the Jeep Dealer and buy a brand new hinge. Any tips on getting the door back up the way it's supposed to would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Pics? Where'd it bust?
If the body isn't fudged up you could go down to a junkyard, find the same hinge style and get some there
Or go doorless :P

Crap, I have no pictures. Dangit. You know where you open the door and you see the hinges? Yeah those things. Problem is, it sits at a complex and I'd be afraid to leave it open. Lots of money has already been put into it, and I don't need any disasters to transform.

I am afraid I would need a whole lot clearer idea where exactly it busted to be of any help. The only place the hinge is "welded" is on the side where it attaches to the body. Then there is the middle where the 2 parts of the hinge join with a pin. The other end is attached to the door by 3 bolts.

Same here..I can't picture what busted...all I can suggest would be junkyard. But that's a preliminary suggestion till what broke us clearer.

It sounds like the same body side hinge break mine had at one time. Po welded it back on but it wasn't where it was supposed to be so I cut it back off and had to re-weld it back on. The door side of the hinge is bolted on but the body side is spot welded. My suggestion is to take it to a known good body shop and they can fix you right up. Good luck!

I wish I had a newer computer so I could take pictures....But according to the mechanic, its a hinge, and he needs to take the entire front fender off because it's a two door, to weld it back on, and it's gonna be $250 does that sound right? I'm a fifteen year old, and don't wanna be played.

this is very common problem with drivers door hinge it must be welded back on then cut hinge stops so door strap stops door instead of hinge binding on it self

The door probably needs to come off but that's easy.
250 is too high.

You can take the fender off your self to save some money. Few simple hand tools is all you need. If your school has a weld shop or auto body class that may be a cheap option

How would you line up the hinge if the doors off??
Pull the fender it's way easier. I've done three. The first one I left the fender on, next two I got smarter and pulled the fenders. Lots of write ups on the net about this. Same hinge and mounting as a 4dr but holding up a larger/heavier door on 2dr models.
freegdr where did they cut the hinge?

I thought that was WAY to high to begin with. Thats exactly whats broken off! (In the picture) Thank you so much! I'll be getting it out of there immediately.
