Default HELP!!? 87 RENIX 4.0 long crank/long start

Recently started taking forever to start. Not sure if it's spark or fuel related. I think it's fuel, not 100% though.

Just need some ideas where to start. 87 4.0 Renix

Forgot to mention, it runs fine after it's started and has been running for a minute or two.

You have the video listed as private so no one can see it yes.

I wouldn't say it's the cause of your problem, but your gas level is probably really low (hence the light?) did you try filling more gas?

Not yet. I've thought about that, but don't have much money to fill it very much.

Go rent or buy a fuel pressure gauge and check your fuel pressure. I don't think its getting enough fuel.

I have one hard mounted to the fuel rail. I'd have to watch it while someone cranks it. I turn the key on and it "primes" and the pressure after that is normal.

I'll try to look at it tomorrow after I get off work, and I'll post up what I find.

Well, while I'm at work, anyone else have any idea, clue, or thought on what might cause this?

Try running the pump a bit by turning the key on/off a few seconds apart, a few times, then to start. If pressuring up the rail first makes it start faster, pressure is leaking. First suspect, check valve in pump, then injectors, then FPR. I just had a new to me 90 "get well" after running a couple of tanks of Chevron Premium with Techron. Surprised me! I waz doing a mileage experiment and my long crank went away....

If you run the tank that low, you run the risk of water and sediment getting to the pump and filter. Your fuel filter could be clogged. We can't advise much based on just the video without any history of work done or not done. I'd put fuel injector cleaner in and put 5 gallons of gas in there to start. Your cps may be going, lots of other things to try systematically.

I'm going to install an inline check valve, just waiting on it to arrive. I checked the fuel injectors, they're not leaking. And exactly how do you "check" the FPR?
