Like your name ( me too). You got a great deal, I paid 4 times that and thought I got a deal. Sounds like you got all the advice you need. Good luck ! What trade school do you go to, I went to LTI in Indy 15 yrs ago.

Anyone done a compression test before is the short attchment or the long attachment that goes into the plug hole.

Well she is running the orange color and gunk in it is coming back but i think it is just the rust and build up of her old age. So i going to flush the rad tom or thursday when it isnt raining. Did a compression the result are as followed
Cyc 1-149 cyc 2-150 cyc 3-150 cyc 4-140 cyc 5-148 cyc 6-150
Changed the oil. It was black but other then that it looked fine.
should i flush some more ever few days or so till it looks better. If so how do you do that?

Compression is alittle low but given the fact your oil was black and likely old as dirt not suprising. I'll bet after a couple oil changes the compression #s will look better.
I think a product called 'Prestone® Super Radiator Flush' might be a good way to clean the rust and crud out. After that you should have a good cooling jeep. You did check and/or change your coolant hoses, right?

I didnt change hose they looked new but i did rinse them out i know stupid but i spent 200 bucks on parts and was runnin out of money. The jeep heated and ran good. The gauge on in the jeep stay just below 210 then went to 210 and back down is that normal. I will go buy some of that and flush it again i know it might take a few flushes and driving to get to look better but anything is better then before.
I bet i know why they were lower. I didnt open the throttle stupid me it was late. but atleast they are all close and i did loose compression either so that looks goood right. Or should i re do it.?

If the hoses look good and not soft like foam or full of cracks they should be ok, you said they look new so no worries.
210 +/- alittle is where cherokees like to run, so your's sounds perfect.
I'm not sure what the closed throttle would do to the test. I would not worry about the compression, like you said they are all close to each other and close to minimum spec.

make sure there is no stress marks near the clamps and at the end of the hoses. look for bubbling near the bottom of the lower radiator hose

I have used CLR in cases were I had a lot of Rust. You can also run vinegar in it to clear it out. It's best to get it as clean as you can now, so it there is a problem you can find it. Oh an good luck at school! I am hard headed, so I only learn by doing! Best part of LTI was the shop, but in my case I learned more in the first 6 mo of my real job. Are you working while your in school? I worked at discount tire when I was going.
