OK so Did the unthinkable I degreased the engine/bay of a 211K mile beater.
In prep for working on my 87 L6 Cherokee i drove it to the closest spray and wash and emptied 2 cans of degreaser on it. then saw that the was had a dergreaser setting on it. so i used the heck out of that then washed it pretty good and rinsed it.
Took forever to start.... finally did and ran like s***, stalled a couple of times... figured it just needed to dry out.... got it to idle well enough to shift and proceeded to drive home.... got half way and taking off from a light all the sudden it wouldn't get above 20mph..... I dont think it is shifting.... got it home parked it in the garage... I am really hoping that it just needs to dry out..... but because it wont get above 20mph i fear much worse......
Any suggestions?.... Please Help....

Most likely the sprayer you used to rinse it had some force behind it so you pushed water into areas it never would have normall gone. I use to run an auto detail shop and everytime we`d degrease an engine we would take one of those big leaf blowers and blast it dry concentrating on every small area. It was rare they didn`t start and run fine after that but on the few times they wouldn`t it always turned out to be water still in the distributor or some other sensor.

I'm glad you figured it out man, nice work. Sometimes it's the simplest thing that you've overlooked 100 times. That's life...

Sounds like water got under the cap/wires. Whenever you degrease an engine. Dont spray electronic components. Keep the water on the block.
It should be fine after it dries out, but that could take a while. Pull apart your electrical connections, dry them with a compressor, dielectric grease the plugs. Do the same for the plug wires.
Good luck

STOP WASHING YOUR DAMN ENGINES PEOPLE!!! And if you do, don't ask us what might be wrong when the engine runs like crap. Water+electronics= crappy running.
