Default HELP 1998 cherokee speedometer and odometer not working

Hey guys this is my first post on here , I have a 1998 xj limited and my speedometer and odometer stopped moving and my cruise control also doesn’t work . My check engine light is also on. Sometimes my speedometer will jump up to 100mph then go back down randomly. Some people told me it’s a gear and some people said it’s a sensor . Can anybody help me out please ?

You need to get that code read, but first place I would check in the mean time is at the speed sensor on your xfer case. Check the wires, and then pull the gear out to check if there is any physical damage. I highly recommend getting the Torque app and a bluetooth dongle for your OBDII port so that you can read codes to help with troubleshooting.
