I am not sure, but I thin your obdII socket being dead is a great clue on to where to start looking for your electrical gremlin.

Well I think I got it.... Knock on wood. The ignition switch. We changed that on Tuesday and it's been great ever since. Figured out the obd2 plug not working was my reader. Not sure why it works fine on my car and not the jeep it's worked before but they plugged there's on at the shop and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the suggestions guys. This one had me for sure.
