Default Help!

My son has a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic 4WD. The transfer case exploded on him the other day. No one I know has ever seen this. Is there a way to fix without a new transfer case? Making it 2wd is fine. Just need to be able to get him to school safely.

Exploded? As in blown apart? Without pics and your vague description I'm going to give you the short answer. No. Get a new TC.

Even without pics I'm going to say replacing the transfercase with a boneyard case will be the easiest and most cost effective solution.

It generally happens when the transfer case is empty of lubricating oil. Time for a good used one.

Used cases are cheap at a JY just buy one and not hard to install either. Some photos would be helpful as well as details which you give none.
