help?
I have a 2001 jeep Cherokee classic. its having a problem and im not sure what it is or what to do about it. when in 2wd, if I press the brakes suddenly the whole engine seems to lurch forward accompanied by a loud clunking noise. also while in 4wd it makes a sound like when a belt squeals but much louder and a just a tad different. I should also include that it has had a very small oil leak for some time now. but iv always made sure to keep it full and the leak is EXTREMELY slow. maybe a couple drips under my car a day. im not sure what is going on with my beloved jeep, but any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Lurching motor points to bad motor/transmission mounts. The oil leak depends on WHERE it is leaking from. Most common sources are the valve cover, oil filter housing and rear main seal.

^ Yes, definitely motor/transmission mounts. Use a flashlight to look at motor mounts. Look for splits in the rubber. 'Usually' bad mounts are visibly bad upon close inspection.
