Dose anything build up behind it?

 

Not really, the main idea was to prevent mud from getting loaded up on the hinges. The height that i picked worked out perfect.



I don't spend time in knee deep mud, so i can't say if it would be a problem.
I made these about 10 years ago, and they work perfect for what i intended them to do.
