Default Heater only blows cold air

I am a new proud owner of a 95 Jeep Cherokee SE. The heat worked great until recently. I have the older heater control switch that has the two levers that slide back and forth. When put to the heat position, the air that blows out is cold. It's winter so I'd love to figure this out. Any help is appreciated, I'm new to car mechanics and am just a girl who wants to save some money instead of taking it in to a shop.

Some details:

The fan is working, its just that the air coming out is not hot at all.
I've recently replaced the radiator cap, thermostat, all radiator and heater hoses, the heater valve, and yesterday I replaced the radiator (had a huge leak). With all that I've done a coolant flush and with the leak being repaired the coolant level is where it should be. I've felt all the hoses and they are as warm as they should be.

Looking through the Haynes manual and doing some research I'm wondering if it is either a blend door or heater control switch problem. How can I test this theory on my own? Or has anyone else had this issue and can tell me what I should check next?

Thank you for taking the time to read And, thanks in advance for any answers.

or maybe a vacuum leak? Air in coolant lines? I'm at a loss.

could be the linkage that controls the blend door, or maybe you're low on coolant.

how's the heater core? maybe needs a flush.

Since you've replaced all of these components try bleeding the system sounds like there is just air trapped. Also have you replaced the water pump?

The water valve is what determines whether or not coolant is flowing into the heater core. It is vacuum controlled and looks like this and is located in the engine bay, near the firewall on the passenger side:

When you move your selector switch to a position other than "Off", like "Heat" for example, the valve should open and the two hoses that go into the firewall should get warm, as they allow coolant into the heater core. Check to make sure that valve opens properly and those two hoses get hot.

The Temperature slider uses a cable to move the blend door back and forth to adjust temperature. You should be able to hear it as it moves. With the motor off, slide it back and forth and listen for that door to open and close.

Let us know what those two tests show and we can go from there.

First of all, let me just say thank you for the replys. I can really use all the help I can get

Ok, so I don't think it is the heater core because I just replaced it (twice because the first was defective) and the hoses are hot. Also, when I change the control lever from a/c, to heat, to defrost, etc. I can hear it from underneath the dashboard switching.

I realised just today that when changing the control lever for the temperature the lever almost feels..."sticky"? I think from constantly checking to see if the heat was working while I delt with the massive coolant leak I prob broke something. I'm going to look into this as well as bleeding the system. Having just replaced the radiator it sounds more than plausable. Will update when I'm done...and if need be move on to the blend door and water pump, but I'm going to be optimistic

Again, thank you for the replys. Will check back in!
