Default Heater Issued

I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport. 2-wheel drive. Driving it this morning, my heater began blowing cool air, then within 2-3 minutes, my "check gauges" light came on due to the temperature increasing or "running hot!" My heater has been working alright, I mean, the air never was scorching hot, but it was warm. I just need some thoughts about what could be wrong. Thanks!

sounds like you have a problem with your cooling system. Either a bad thermostat or a clog somewhere.

Check your hoses to the heater core when hot they should both feel the same temp if not your heater core is plugged up.

Thanks. I think the thermostat just got stuck. Found a somewhat quick fix/cheap fix that I may be able to do myself. Thanks for your thoughts.

Check your waterpump for leaks or bad bearings. use a reputable t-stat when you change it
