Question Heater Help!

Has anyone done anything to help the weak heater in a 88-96 XJ? They just don't put out enough air volume! I thought maybe someone knows a way to get the higher fan speed you get on max AC? This would help, although still not enough. It takes forever to cool the interior in the summer and the same to get it warm in the winter, I just hope someone has a fix, I've owned XJs for 15 years, and all have had the same problem. My wife's 2000 with the redesigned heat/ac system is a lot better, I've even concidered putting the dash and heater/ac from a 97 up in my 96, but way too much work, there must be an easier way. Thanks for any help.

Your heater core or A/C evaperator may be clogged up with dirt, leafs, animal hair, or any number of things than can make its way into the outer vent opening. I've seen a few totally blocked up with dust and wood chips (tree service truck).

Thanks, but I don't think that's the problem, all of my XJs have had poor air flow through the heat/ac. I think I need to find a way to spin the fan faster, or find a bigger fan that will fit.

I seems like alot of trouble but you can pull the fan/motor and take it to a starter generator shop and have some windings removed and this will make the motor turn faster but it will also pull more amps so you will need to up the fuse.

Rip it all out and replace it with this http://www.heatercraft.com/ProductIn...oductid=201HOR if you dont mind not having ac. That is what I did and does it move some air. It even helps cool my motor quicker than my e-fan.
