Default Heater Core and Replacement Advise

As soon as summer is over I will be tearing apart my dash and replacing my heater core, I must have a very slight leak because it took over 6 months for my overflow to drop 1", but I have that sweet antifreeze and window fogging iissue on the passenger side so I guess it is time.

I plan to replace the heater core, AC evaporator, AC drier, I also need to replace the door for my defrosters due to it being broken off where it attaches to the vacuum valve. Is there anything else that should be checked, replaced, sealed, or lubricated when the dash is apart? Any upgrade suggestions to do at the same time?

I hear mixed reviews about the quality of replacement heater cores, failing aftera few years, not providing adequate heat, so I wanted to ask those of you who have done the job what brand you bought, is the heat sufficient for your winter driving, and how long has the new core been in service. May also want to say where you are located as a way of judging your heat needs.

Edit.
What about any special tools needed to trar the dash apart or under the hood?

Sounds like you've you your ground covered, do you mean replace the AC accumulator instead of evacuator? I went with an autozone heatercore for my girlfriends jeep last winter. We live in MN and it works great.

I have a Spectra. I replaced it maybe 4 months ago from the Carquest brand (I forget which) to a Spectra along with a Spectra CU1193 Radiator. I am constantly running coolant through it because I deleted the heater control valve when I did my cooling system conversion (renix). Both work excellent and I now get superb heat. I am originally from California but I am traveling N.A. and currently in the Pacific Northwest where the heat is really useful, especially in the forested areas. No complaints thus far and both came with a warranty. I made a video showing the process on my '88, hope this helps.

The '99 should not have a heater control valve, I think it was deleted in around 97 or 98.
