Question heater core flush

so i replaced my t stat on my Xj to try and get some heat in my rig to no avail. so,i just flushed the core myself and some old gasket material came out. so I'm guessing there is still some build up and such in ther. because while it didn't warm up completely and it was warmer just not as nice as i would like. Is there a cleaner i can run through it to finish cleaning it out? And a second question my needle for my thermometer is moving only when i start it up. it will go all the way to the right then to the left and not climb, does that have any relevance to the problem maybe?

Did you flush it both ways? Also make sure the blend door is cable is adjusted. As far as your temp gauge goes check that the connector is clean and fits right on the sensor. Of course it could be the sensor needs replaced.

Are both hoses to the h/c HOT?

Here is a pic of the blend door cable(on passenger side under dash). That lever the cable attaches to should be to the right against that plastic stop when the dash heat/cold lever is in the heat position. At least mine is. Watch the movement of the blend door lever as you move the heat/cold lever.

Use clr I did it both ways in the core for like 3 hours did wonders but since your is a 93 is so easy to do the heater core and super cheap like 35$ for the heater core and with a buddy it's like 2 hours to do. If u have ac you will have to recharge it after.

2 hours to replace a heater core in a gen2 XJ? What are you removing the firewall from the engine side with a plasma cutter??

I'm wondering how many parts you would have left over and broken in a 2 hour 93 XJ heater core replace.

wow.

All little? More like alot. It's no less then a 4 hour job and that's if you've already done one and know what's going on.
