Default Heater control valve elimination with 2001 hoses.

Is this possible? The diameters are somewhat similar between a '94 hose from the thermostat housing to valve and a 97-01 hose from the thermostat to the heater core inlet/outlets. I just purchased a new heater control valve and it leaks like crazy if I have the heat off so I want it OUT OUT OUT!

Becuase it's winter, I would bypass the valve (with a piece of pipe) till spring.

billfrank85,

Your logic is correct. You can use the newer style hoses to remove the Heater Vavle from the equation. Another option (rahter then buy OEM hoses) is to replace with a straight section of heater hose available at any auto parts store.

The blend door seperates the heat and cool air so you dont have to worry about heating the cab in the summer.

Thanks for the confirmation. I know it would probably be just as easy to get tees and such for the hoses but I like my engine compartment to look somewhat nice

Same here. I try and make any mods either look better or equal to OEM.

This summer Im going to clean up the engine bay. Remove AC system, re-route some hoses and wires. Maybe even put the battery in the back.
