Heater blower fan decided to crap out today!?! TODAY!!?!?
It was 8 degrees out today.
I start the car up and the heater fan is 100% dead.
All 4 fan speeds are dead.
There is a very slight trickle of warmth coming from footwell, dash, and the front vents (based on the middle **** setting)
So, the heater part is working, just the fan is dead on all settings.
The blower fan showed no sign of quitting earlier this morning.
I don't think it's a resistor b/c the fan doesn't work on "4" either.
I wonder if the cold temp actually broke a fuse or relay?
The barnacle has been good to me for the last 2 years so I guess it was time for him to get some payback.

Heater blower fan is now working again after swapping relays.
To get behind the glovebox, all you need to remove the rubber stoppers that block its path.
Then, the relay is sitting right in front of you.

This is interesting as the blower on my 01 XJ has been acting up lately. It seems to always work the first time I drive it on any given day. But if I stop the engine, and restart it, even 5-10 minutes later, the blower can take 3-5 minutes to start if it starts at all. All positions of the speed selector. If its not the relay, or the connector to the blower, are there any other things to check besides the blower?

It's not just that. This post was clear, concise, to the point, and CORRECT, not filled with whining about how many tools it takes to do the job, or how mechanics make more than doctors or lawyers. I can't believe I'm going to say this....but nice job, bimmer
On a side note, I'm really just happy that I now have you yourself calling your ride "The Barnacle"....makes my day, LOL

I'm stunned as well. He basically posted a problem, then 3 hours later posted a successful fix.
Possibly someone hacked his account, and is now posting positive helpful information? I bet North Korea has something to do with this.
