1989 Pioneer. Except for the following all the controls, lights, etc seem to work correctly.
1. Turn on ignition.
2. Turn on headlights.
3. Turn key to off or remove key.
At this point I'm unable to turn the headlights off. Pushing the switch in does nothing. Requires putting the key in and turn to on before the headlights can be turned off. Is this normal?

It's a delayed headlight thingy and it takes roughly 30 to 45 seconds for it to time out (gives you time to get into the house). I was rather surprised to find my 90 Laredo had that feature as well because, I've had newer vehicles that didn't. You can either turn off the headlights before turning off the ignition or, do it after and let it time itself out.
