Default Headlights not working.

i have a 1997 jeep cheorkee sport that i will never get rid of.just recently the headlights go out on me randomly while driving down the road. i cant get em to come back on either with the switch.i need to know if there is a headlamp relay and where is it located, please.also does anyone know if these headlamp pull switches have a problem with em going out after time? i tried searching for a headlamp relay thread but found none.

There isn't a headlight relay. The circuit goes straight thru the headlight switch.

It's a very common failure. As Lowrange said, the power for the lights runs right through the switch with no external relay. The switch runs warm under the best of circumstances, hot when the plug gets dirty and eventually fails from carrying the full circuit load.

SO! To solve this issue, you'll most likely want to replace the switch and completely rewire the headlight circuit to incorporate a relay.

Got it? Good. Let me know when you're finished.

Probably because the retarded owner who uses the word retarded can't figure them out.

Since I have a developmentally disabled brother and neice and had to listen to that word about a million times it pisses me off.

How'd it come out?

You would actually be surprised by the difference.

was kind of a pain to get the switch out.i took apart a bunch of stuff that was unnecessary. like the insrtument cluster, but oh well it was my first time. and i havent mounted relays yet.probably going to mount em to the fram rail.relays gonna be powered straight from the alternator and switched on my the HL switch of course.double relays were overkill, but oh well.
