Default headlights not working

I got in my jeep tonight and turned on the headlights but only the running lights come on. I checked my fuses and found nothing. Does anyone know common things to check before I tear into it? Need to get these working. I drove home using my trail lights

Try the electrical connection under the hood it should be hiding on the driverside where the head light wires go through the rad support. Mine went bad I cleaned everything with emery cloth and packed it with electrical grease

Ok. So I went out this morning and they turned right on. I was messing with that plug last night but I will try cleaning it.

They did it again tonight and came on half way home. My running lights all come on so I'm thinking its in the switch. Does that sound right?

Don't quote me and I'm not sure and I could be wrong. Isn't there a circuit breaker that plugs in near the bottom of the fuse box? If that's not the fault, at least it would be a place to check power to help figure whats up.

May be the switch. If you have an electrical diagram you can test function of the wires at the switch, or you can buy one, swap it, and return it if needed.

Well it is in the switch. Maybe a loose wire. When I start taking the switch out the lights come right on. Haven't quit again yet. I need to get in there and check the wires.

I have had a similar problem of my T-Bird and it did turn out to be the headlight switch.
