Default Headlight Doors and Grill

Good Morning All,
How hard is it to remove and paint the headlight doors and grille on a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo?
Currently they are chrome and I want them to be black?
Should I go to a junkyard and get black ones or just paint the ones I have? How hard is it to remove these ?
Thanks for all your help as im not exactly mechanically inclined.

Do you know which end of a Phillips screwdriver to hold???
Then you are inclined enough to remove the headlight doors (bezels) and grille.
Start with the side marker lights first. Just turn the socket 90degrees and it will dislodge from the light itself. They are hiding 2 screws that mount the headlight bezel. Then the 2-3 screws you can see on the outside.

Once you have removed the headlight bezels, the grille comes out after removing the 8-10 screws you see from standing in front of it.

As for the painting...the "chrome" is very durable. And hard to get paint to adhere to.

I would suggest EITHER running to J/Y and finding some black pieces (MAY have to get from several XJ's)
-OR-
Look on eBay, there are always bezel/grille combos on there for rather cheap.
As for the fit/quality? I cannot vouche.

Either way, if you get the black ones, and decide later that you want them to match the body color...its as easy as sanding lightly (scuffing) and painting.

just do a quick search on ebay, that way you can allways go back to chrome one day if you wanted to.

Thanks folks...
It wasnt too bad. they popped right off and I went over to Ace hardware and picked up a good spray paint(Black) and sprayed them. They came out nice. I put on 2 coats.
Since my jeep is black(It was just repainted last year), i think it looks better with the black front. Im pleased with it.
Thankls for your help folks. this place is awsome....
