Where can I find the kit for my 2k Cherokee...? I need an unsealed light for my HIDs but don't know where to look. Anybody else do this?

 

it depends on how much you wanna spend, you can spend more and get rampage conversion lights from quadratec, or go the ebay route like i did and spend 20 lol, they work great, just dont use the stupid little blue lights in them cause they are a waste

 

x2 on ebay and if you think the smoked headlights look cool do not buy them I made that mistake and even with 6k hids you cant see a damn thing at night

 

Off topic, but I don't get why anyone that drives at night would get smoked headlights. Boggles my mind. I like to actually see!

To your question, search around for H4 Cherokee conversion and you'll find lots of stuff for housings. The H4 housing is what you're going to need.

 

Are there H4 projector units available? I don't like HIDs in reflectors because the beam pattern doesn't work so well....

 

I don't know where to get them, but I have seen pictures of them installed on XJ's before.

I've got H4 conversions on my wifes XJ. They arent bad, just take my advice and dont get the blue or the "hyper white" (still blue) bulbs because when it rains or snows, the light seems like it soaks into everything and it's hard to see. The high beams suck too, the low beams are pretty nice when the grounds dry. So just get the plain white bulbs if you can. I bought mine at a local swap meet at a booth that sold custom Chevy p/u parts. I only paid like $35 with bulbs for both of them. Ebay is a good place to find them as well if you can't go to a swap meet. It won't matter if they say they are for an XJ or not as long as they are the square 5x7 bulb, it's all the same.

Well I bought an h4 hid kit so I'm not worried about the bulbs it comes with I just need to be able to remove it and put my new ones in.

 

I bought my set of lenses from eBay also. Word of advice…..look for a kit that has a better bulb mount on the back. I think the full glass lens versions have better rear bulb clips (full metal housing). The set I bought have glass lenses, but the rears were plastic and the bulb mount stripped when I tried to mod it to accommodate a D2R HID bulb.

I’m not a fan of cheap rebased kits, or the supposed “H4” Hi/Lo kits, so I went with some H4 shields in the lenses, then dropped in Osram D2R bulbs. These are powered by OE Hella ballasts and a relay wire harness.

All in all, I’m very happy with the light output. My setup is producing very little (if any) glare or upward splash. I have yet to have anyone flash me due to my lights blinding them.

If I get some time soon, I will to post some pics with more details.
