Default Headlight connector wiring

So my connector finally rooted out and is no longer useful so I bought a replacement only problem is I don't know which wire goes to which.

Here is the old connector. 3 wires, red /Maroon, black and purple.

Here is the new connector, again 3 wires black, green and an off orange. Which goes to which.

don't do it! back away slowly and find your nearest computer and order a whole new wire harness and relay setup... for real man, the stock setup is crummy with all current flowing through the light switch, bad way old design. Putco makes the most common harness/relay setup however look around, there is another kit out there that uses 5-pin relays not the 4-pin relay (china) . Now you do need a good right hand light socket (stock wiring) to make it work. You will not regret this mod and takes just a few hours to install.

That won't help because the harness uses the factory plug control and his is already dead.

I think the replacement harnesses only use one plug for signal.

the harness uses only one headlight plug and can be installed on either side using which ever plug is left alive. It is easier to install on the battery side for access to power.

MidwestNick you don't say what year of jeep you have. checking a wire diagram for that year in a shop manual seems too obvious. I checked my '99 shop manual but could not match up the colors for either plug shown.

http://www.the12volt.com/, this is a good place to start looking for wiring colors. I have done the harness upgrade, not the Putco one but a different one I found on ebay. The results were very nice after it was completed.

Just pull apart the old connector to see where each of the three wires go then wire in the new one. The only goes on one way, correct?
