My head liner is coming undone right at the top of the windshield. I don't really have the money to go all out by ripping it out and redoing the entire thing. Is there a way to quickly fix the little bit of it that is coming off now with out it looking tacky? I understand I need to tear it out and redo it but I just don't have the money or time. In the next year after I graduate I will have both so it can be done properly. I'm up for any suggestions. Thanks.

I have the same problem, and it looks really cheep and easy to do it right. Someone had posted a how-to (I would like to see that again, BTW).

From what I have heard, spraying adhesive is only a bandaid, as it'll be sagging again in less than a week because the fiberglass headliner board is flaking, its not the adhesive failing.

On mine it degraded and re-gluing it didn't help much. Mine is a work "truck" and I care almost not at all about looks. Especially there. Thumbtacks sort of work. Then I put 1/4 inch staples in the staple gun and went at it. If you press too hard you will hear it ping on the roof. Ugly as hell, but it's up there.

To fix it CORRECTLY, it's gonna be $125.

I cannot get it under $125 unless I find a HECK of a deal on the 3M adhesive. Even eBay is spendy.

I fiberglassed my '84 board before installing the new liner and glues. THAT makes it WAY more than $125..

125? i guess thats one way, or for $10 and a few trips to the you pull it yard you should be able to find a good one from a newer xj. my local yard had several in good shape when i got mine, and pulling it gave me plenty of experince in how to remove the trim and install it without breaking anything.

You can get pins to hold it up they look like cork screws with a clear thumb tack button I have a few in mine and they hold pretty good. Until I can get er done right lol

Three yards of headliner material-$50-60
Two cans of QUALITY spray adhesive-$15-20 each
Two hours of easy labor and you're done for under $100. Pow! Brand new headliner......

Does anyone have pictures of what it looks like with no headliner? That is a possibility until I can put a roll in bed liner or something else.
