Haynes Manual 1999 vs 2000
Hey all, I ordered a Haynes manual used on Amazon and was supposed to receive the one up through 2000. Instead I got 1984 to 1999.
My XJ was manufactured in 9/99 but is considered a 2000 by the dealer at least. Anyone know if I'm going to run into repair issues by not having the manual up to my full model year?

Sell yours on e-bay and get the right year for yours. If you haven't already, Here is a site with PDF format Mopar - Chrysler OEM parts catalogs for your year XJ. These are handy because they show exploded views of every thing. Not just for the part numbers.http://www.xjjeeps.com/ And it is FREE.

I guess I should rephrase my original question: I'm mostly trying to figure out how much difference there is between the 1999 and 2000 models that would prevent me from just using this Haynes manual for the '99 on my '00?
Or, the other possibility, since my car was manufactured in September of '99, is it technically under the '99 build specs? Anyone know?

No, you shouldn't have "much" of a difference considering the paper between the the 2 different catalogs is just going to chafe your ***! In my opinion, that's all Haynes and Chilton's catalogs are good for, just a spare set of cheap TP to have around.
Don't get me wrong, the catalog is good to keep around. I have a Haynes, I have it sit in my toolbox in the rear cargo if I'm traveling a good distance or going camping. I picked it for this matter too! It's not like I'm gong to be bringing my laptop with the FSM on it while I'm camping. When I am home and have the option available for both, I go straight towards the FSM.
So, to answer your question, no there is not much of a difference. Definitely random about your catalog and what years it supports. My Haynes covers from '84-'01, which now ensures me that you wouldn't have much of a problem. You would have issues if it was a '97, the transitioning year between the two generations, but even those are small details!

Therein lies one of the main problems with Haynes/Chilton. It's hard to effectively cover that many years.
Does your title say 1999 or 2000? Does your engine have a distributor? 1999 has a distributor, 2000 does not.
Here is a link to a digital licensed, legal actual factory service manual for your 2000. $7.95 is a very good price. If you need hardcopy in the garage, just print out the pages you need.
