Exclamation having jeep problems

hey everyone i have a 1987 xj with a 4.0L in it 5 spd . it starts runs fine and then it dies. wont start up again. i try again the next day same thing

i know the kid who had it before me changed some turn signal connections under the steering column

i wanted to know if they r any other wires that run by the connection that r related to fuel and spark ?

also im having trouble finding the asd relay someone told me to check that

also one last question is there any way the computer may be damaged and seems to work and then stop?

thanks for any help

how long does it stay running? if you wait till the engine cools down (not the next day) does it start up?

on my 98 the ASD relay is under the hood in the power distributor center. try swapping it with one for the starter or fuel pump.

the ignition wires run with the wires for the turn signals maybe he screwed something up. does jiggling the key while its on or after it won't start change anything? or even jiggling the wiring harness under the steering wheel?

it varies on how long it stays running for. i have not tried to let it cool down and start it on the same day so i plan to try that now.

today i swapped around the relays and tried starting it up same thing is happening. i just wanted to know which relay is the asd relay alldata doesn't say which one it is.

i played around with the wiring and it got the dash to work so i have a good feeling it has to be the wiring on the steering column

i plan to take it apart and check the wiring their you wouldn't happen to know what voltage reading i should be getting from the wires ?

thank you for the quick response
mike
