Hatch speakers don't work when open

Hatch speakers don't work when open

So has anyone on here ever experienced this? It's just the passenger side that quits. I got new speakers last Sunday. Any ideas on where my problem could be?

Probably a loose wire somewhere I would pull the panel off and check that first.

It could be the above. But it could also be a cracked wire that goes from the body into the lift gate. A very comment place for wires to break from being opened and closed.
