Question Has anyone used something like this for a roof rack?

My XJ didn't come with roof rails or the pre-drilled holes, so I'm looking for a sturdy, economical soloution. Has anyone used work van cross bars, similar to these:

No idea if it will work, but I'm really interested to find out. I have yak bars but no feet, that is cheaper than the foot pack from Yakima so I'm really curious to see what it looks like if you pull the trigger and get it installed.

I bought a factory roof rail and drilled the holes and installed my roof rack! Was a really easy job

Adding to this, I removed my factory rack last night, and I'd be happy to sell it to you.

It supposedly mounts to standard gutters, I would think it'd work on the XJ's too. I was actually thinking about this as well, but am curious to see what it looks like. Pretty sure a few years ago there was an XJ with this same style cross bars painted black in my town (before I got mine). It is long gone now though.

Wow those racks are goofy looking. Anyways, I just hopped over to the junkyard, and for $35 and a quick stop at the hardware store I've got a fully functioning stock rack with 4 crossbars.
