Default Has anyone ever done this?

Went wheelin saturday and while in the rocks bent the lower control arm hanger on the axle. The axle moved to the driver side about an inch or so. I was going to heat it up and bend it back but, is the axle going to move back to the passenger side like it once was? Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is tyour trac-bar mount bent also? The trac-bar should have kept the axle from moving over.

Find another XJ and make some measurements before trying to put it back in place. I would consider trying to fab up some kind of reinforcement too. It won't be as strong now that it has been bent once unless you gusset it too.
X2 on the TB.

Seem's like Rusty's makes heavy duty tabs for this or re-enforcements. Might give 'em a look.

There has to be a TB issue. Simply bending a link tab should not have uncentered your axle. FWIW, it cannot be out of center without a TB issue, IMHO!! My $.02 hope it helps!!

Did it take any of the curves out of the trackbar at the same time? Show us some pics so we can see the damage and make better suggestions.

I'm going to try to get a few pictures of it. I looked at it, and it doesnt look like the trac bar is bent. However, if I do need to replace the trac bar, how does it come out? To clarify, I tryed to get it out when I put my lift on and hit the passenger side bolt with two different impacts and it wouldnt move. The front end was suspended, should I have done it on the ground? Also there is a steel tab that seems to be attached to the nut. WHat the hell is that? Thanks guys!

Use a breaker bar and PB Blaster on the track bar bolt. The tab is there to hold the nut for the track bar bolt, It's not welded on and you can't reach it with your fingers.

Mine snapped off when removing it. Replaced mine with a grade 8 and a Nyloc nut. You can get a boxed end wrench on it now.

Mounts are made like a freight train and trackbars are made like cardboard. What a contrast.

I read a post or article somewhere where someone had a Rusty's trackbar on and it snapped and he flipped the jeep...looked really nasty and I sure would rather spend the bucks to get something better when it comes to safety..
