WHat do you need to know... I did this swap on my 87.

You will to open up the center hole on the brake backing plate about 3/16's, you will also need to redrill the backing plate for the xj d44 pattern. I used TJ rubicon axle retainers.. I also had them drilled. I dropped al these parts off at a machine shop, and 100 bucks later it was good.

Alloy USA used to sell (stil might) alloy shafts for the d44 with all the parts you need to do the swap(as far as the ahafts go) plus dual bolt pattern alloys for 300.
