Hard wiring CD player in an 87?
Okay I have begun wiring a Dual Cd player with motorized faceplate into my 87, I noticed that I had to hook up the Red, yellow, and Blue wire from the receiver to 1 wire in the harness and no other combination would let all the unit work, is this normal can someone tell me what wires to hook to what so i dont have any problems with my head unit because i cant afford another head unit because of all the problems ive had from the drivetrain lately. any help is greatly appreciated.

On the head unit red is power yellow is memory and blue is usally for power antenna or a remote for an amp u could always wire it to the fuse box the yellow has to have constant power and red has power only when the key is on and then find ur speaker wires and ur all set oh yeah don't forget to ground the black wire for the ground

the red wire is the hot wire, the unit should turn on with only the red wire and ground hooked up, the rest are for speaker channels, dimmer, antenna etc
so i need to run the yellow wire into the fuse box? and what color is the dimmer usually? and where do i ground the black ground wire at?

U don't have to run it to the fuse box I'm not sure what the harness looks like on the 87 but they sell harness that plug into the factory harness then everything else is color coded wire a diagram. But if u just want to find a constant power for the yellow wire for memory just locate one in the fuse box with test light and the ignition off once u find that hook the yellow in there. Then find a fuse that shuts off with the key for the red wire. as for dimmer I believe there are usually orange but don't quote me just hook the yellow, red and ground up along with speaker wires and tape the rest up with black tape

okay so i have my memory wire ran into my fuse box tied into the same area as the hazards. but im having problems with the other wires with the ground and memory hooked in i can use the eject button but with the switch power tied into the wiring harness i get nothing technically so whats the easiest possible way to hook this up and yes i used a multimeter and theres only one wire in the harness that is getting voltage but its getting it with or without the key switched into on, this is really stressful and the stock harness was cut off by the po so please no posts say just go buy a harness
