Hello everyone first timer here and so far this site is awesome glad to be apart of it. My question is my 96 XJ has a hard shift from 1-2nd and all other shifts are fine. Anyone dealt with this before and or know what causes this and maybe what to do to fix the issue. This trans was a used trans with only 150k on it that wouldn't shift I replaced all 3 trans solenoids and it shifts now but hard 1-2 shift.

Adjust your kickdown cable. Do a search it's on here some where and takes 30 seconds to do the procedure. That's really my only advice but its where everyone will tell you to start. I will say when mine did this it ended up being my TPS.

 

mine was the same way as the OP describes. I adjusted the TV cable and now it's smooth unless you floor it.
