My buddy has one on his 89 XJ. Ran a bicycle cable shifter from the throttle body to transmission shifter. It's actually really simple, only hard part is adjusting the cable to the tension.

I am going to put one on my CJ3B someday here soon. My plan was to use a bicycle brake handle lever with the cable mounted to the shifter on my 4spd.
Simple as that. Then make a linkage for the carb. I guess you could use a friction shifter for a bike, the ones that done click to a spot but just slide and stay in place. It might work with a regular clicking shifter, but with a brake lever your able to put the power down real fast and take it off real fast.

the terraflex uses somthing similar to the shift lever on a bike you can adjust the tension so it stays engauged or will pop back like the foot throttle would, by turning the dial on the throttle. it works awesome for decending inclines. you could probably find somthing like a weed eater throttle that would work!! i just prefer to get one thats already to go especially when it comes to messing around with the throttle!!!!
