Depends upon the year of the HO and what it came out of. Can be very doable. I've done a few. Easy.

Any 91-2001 engine will be fine.

I would aim for a 96 just cause it's got the (almost) best head and the strongest block.

Stay away from 99-2001 imo. 0331 heads and I do NOT get a long

I don't know that its 100%the plug and play. If im not mistaken one has a knock sensor, one doesnt. Among other things.

This should answer many of your questions as well as give you a step by step what to do. Be sure to thank huntingman for this one.

Because it's different depending on what year HO you get.

Forget anything later than 2000.

Use your Renix flywheel/flexplate, distributor, intake and exhaust manifolds, valve cover and all sensors. There is a place on the HO block for the knock sensor, most times already threaded.

Remove the furthest forward threaded block plug on the HO so you can screw your Coolant Temp SENSOR into the HO block before installation. It's a 5/16" square drive.

Be sure to use the intake/exhaust gasket for the Renix motor.

Some later HO motors do not have the provision in the back of the head for the temp SENDING unit. If that's the case, use the HO thermostat housing, put your sender in the threaded hole and extend the wiring up to it.

How's that? Maybe a mod will make it a sticky?

^^That uses the Renix head and block, the HO head has larger ports, which is what I want.

If you submitted it as a write up I would discuss it with the other Moderators.

However, there is one hiccup. The 99+ intakes are the best, so why stick with the Renix intake?

Doesn't the Renix and H/O blocks have the same head bolt pattern and what not? I always thought they did.. I could have sworn I have seen threads where guys had put H/O heads on a Renix block and vise versa. I may be wrong though.
