Default Grounding wire from the head bolt to the firewall??

I am reinstalling head and can't remember something clearly. Should have taken notes or more pics.

Does the flat wire (ground) from the firewall to the head bolt pass between the head and the valve cover? Doesn't that create a break in the seal between the two?

On mine there is a valve cover bolt that also has a threaded portion above the hex, and a nut secures the grounding wire to that above the valve cover.

There is a stud in the rear driver side corner of the cylinder head, next to the valve cover.
