I take it that is the braided strap that goes from the firewall to the #14 head bolt.
If it is, it's probably carrying the whole battery ground to chassis ground circuit.
If so, open this link and scroll down to post #49. You'll see ground G100. That is the main battery ground to chassis ground circuit. The braided strap was not intended to carry heavy ground loads.

Remove the bolt at G100 and see is there is corrosion. Is so, clean the ring terminal with a Scotch-Brite pad and sandpaper the fender sheet metal. Either wire wheel or replace the bolt. Reassemble.
Do the same for the braided strap connection on the firewall.

I'd check the main ground cable, and where it connects to the block as well. Your chassis seems to be grounded better than your engine...

Humm he never came back. I use that size braid for an RF ground for radio gear in mobile's bonding doors to body, body to frame, etc. when hooking up Amateur Radio gear even CB's are helped by it less noise. and in my "Radio Shack" at home.
It amazes me at times the wiring size that people use and the same for the length of the run involved, not to figure the loss in it. I use a lot of used welding cable 00 that I bought several years ago when a shop went out of business for grounds, for scrap price 200' of it most all of it in good shape.
