Hi my name is brennen I have a 1995 jeep Cherokee country, I've added alot to it and done alot in it but can't seem to find out what the noise is, I changed front wheel hubs, didn't work, tranny fluid is good and I don't see anything next to the drive shaft or any other moving parts that would make that noise I checked my front diff and changed fluid and still makes noise, it happens the most when I'm going down hill and I let off the gas but I can hear it all the time when I drive around can someone please help?

Have you checked around your brakes? I had an anti-rattle dealie come out of place and from time to time it would grind into my rotor. Irritating as all hell until I got new brake pads and found it.

Mine does the same thing. But now its everyday and happens when letting off the gas an deccerating. I have checked all joints, brakes, wheel hubs etc. The only thing I haven't checked is the transfer case. Will the noise come from there? It makes no sense to me why a transfer case would hum or grind when slowing down, but not when speeding up. I don't understand. Need help please.
It's most likely a rear driveline angle problem. Just picked up a 96 XJ. The PO installed a 3.5 RE lift on it, but the driveline angle was way out of whack. It had the same problem, you would hear a grinding when coasting/deceleration. Once the driveline angle was fixed, the grinding noise went away.
I think the rear drive shaft may be the problem. But if thats where it may be coming from then why is it that when it happens i can feel it in the floor board on the driver and passenger side, but noone that ride sin the back can feel it but can hear it... Its very irritating....~
