Well I installed the same lift on a 91 XJ..Had a similar noise until I put the track bar on..I still have vibes but not the nasty grinding vibe noise fron the front drive shaft..On mine after I installed the lift it shifted the front axle quite a bit off center to a point I didn't have to eye ball it I could just glance and tell it was off.. Although you will still likely need a SYE or tc-drop..I plan on doing a tc drop till I can afford an SYE next year.

wasn't grinding on anything was just the front drive shaft vibe issue..basically when you add a lift you shift that front axle towards the drivers side so not only does the shaft angle up and down change but you also add to the funky angle by shifting that axle towards the drivers side..Could have been something with the u-joint as well..That's the best I can figure cause that noise stopped and now I just get some slight vibes not that grinding vibe..I just don't know specifically what the exact issue was just how it stopped for me..Not to mention it road way better..

Likely is a smart idea to replace all the drive shaft u-joints..I hadn't considered that...New angles can definitely put some stress on old u-joints..This may sound funny but I haven't replaced a u-joint in years...I swear this jeep is making me refresh myself on my wrenching skills..lol That's next on my lift....cause I have a feeling my u-joints are pretty darn old...

Ok this weekend I helped a guy from school install an RE kit just like mine on a 92 XJ and guess what same grinding noises I had. Today we got the trackbar installed uhg I didn't think the stock one was going to come free even with a pickle fork..just needed some convincing..
Anyways after installing the track bar that love grinding vibe noise magically went away...So 98cherokeesport get a track bar soon..
Two jeeps same t-case same issue after lift install and both fixed with installing a track bar..

It's more than likely your rear driveshaft angles. I have never heard of vibrations related to axle shift until i read this thread so that's new to me. My guess on that kind of situation is that when your axle is shifted over 2" or so, it's being "pulled on" and the tightness of this would transfer axle vibrations more than it would if it were centered with less force on it. If your trackbar was moved by re-drilling then rule that out as the culprit.

thanks for the reassurance muddeprived. I figured that the lift instructions would cover everything and i guess they did. when i get the tc drop kit i will see if there are any more vibrations.
I was under the impression that the RE 3.5" kit came with a trackbar? I'm surprised the instructions say to re-drill the hole over some.
well i bought the Superride kit. i believe that the superflex kit comes with the adjustable track bar. is it a shock that it said to redrill the hole? it is the first lift i have ever done so i thought it was normal.

That weakens the trackbar mount and should be considered if the rocks are not your use for the vehicle. The weakened mount will standup to trail use and mus OK but the rocks cause alot more stress on components.
